Located just north of Chaweng Beach, on a secluded sandy bay, shared with only a handful of private homes, this beach is as close to private as possible in Thailand. Just five minutes from the airport and a short walk to the island's bustling resort area of Chaweng, The Cove provides the ultimate in convenience and yet, once you enter the property, it's like escaping to another world. The discrete and tasteful roadside appearance gives you no indication of exactly how large and impressive this property is. Electric wooden gates open and entice you into the entrance courtyard. There are two pavilions at this reception level. One houses the gym and the TV room on the ground floor, with the kid's dorm and a twin bedroom upstairs. The other offers garaging and the laundry room downstairs, with the upstairs providing staff quarters and an office with a magnificent sea view. From the courtyard area, a reception pagoda opens onto broad steps which take you down to the main villa. This is when the true scale of the property becomes visible. This extraordinary home consists of stunning individual thatched pavilions which are surrounded by extensively planted tropical gardens. Manicured lawns and exquisite stone pathways promote a natural feeling of space. The five main bedrooms are clustered above and below the awe-inspiring pool and living level. This remarkable level provides a hotel-like sense of space and drama with the elegance of white Terrazzo floors complementing and defining the different social areas. Two bedroom pavilions (bedrooms four and five) share a level and are each surrounded by pebble bottomed ponds with fish and water fountain features. Each has a private garden with sun-loungers overlooking the rest of the property, the gardens and the beaches. Both of these bedrooms have a fully integrated audio/visual system, vaulted ceilings, king size beds, fitted wardrobes, and en-suite shower rooms. Each bedroom also features a tropical outdoor shower with music system and the indulgence of open sea views. Separating the two pavilions are wide stone steps which lead down and through the rest of the grand home. At the top of the central stone steps there's an incredible seashell sculpture which draws your attention and directs your eye's through the property to the ocean beyond. The next level in the main villa has a similar layout with two beautiful bedroom pavilions (Bedrooms two and three). These rooms share a private front garden with a covered Sala. Both have flat-screen TVs, audio systems, king size beds, walk-in wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms with twin-sinks and walk-in showers. One bedroom also has a free-standing bathtub, in the outdoor bathroom, and a secret garden. The other bedroom has an outdoor shower with ocean view. This level is home to one of the villa's most magical features, the outdoor “Cinema Paradiso”. A screen comes down from the pergola outside bedroom two and a complete home theatre and audio system is concealed within the garden. The entire lawn can be converted into a moonlit movie theatre within minutes. There's even specially designed deckchairs and beanbags available. Just add popcorn for an unforgettable cinema experience under the stars. Stone steps lead you down to the sensational communal level where you'll find the breathtaking lap pool, relaxing Salas, the living and dining areas, the kitchen and the café bar. Glass doors run across the entire front of this pavilion and open the living space onto the lawn and pool. The mirrored back wall ensures that the epic view is always the main focus of your attention. The room has been accessorised with natural coloured furniture, bright cushions and quirky contemporary artwork. It has a very modern style which is extremely comfortable and inviting. A huge wooden dining table is surrounded by white and chrome chairs; this is a great area for socialising and spending time with your friends and family. The innovative dining table provides the option for a large square table for 8-12 guests; it can be split to offer cosier more intimate meals; or it can be arranged as a dramatic long banquet table for gatherings of up to 20. A very special feature of this level is the café. The centrepiece is a massive solid teak island with trendy stools. The high style of the gloss finished cabinets, glass-fronted wine fridge and classic appliances are enhanced by mood lighting systems which create a casual and comfortable space for coffees and poolside drinks during the day, but transforms into a sophisticated bar area at night. This room opens into a gladed courtyard with an ancient fig tree and a gas barbecue. Beyond the café there is a fully fitted kitchen with high quality appliances. This living and dining room is a huge single space which matches the pool in proportions. The whole level has been cleverly designed to be a functional and social area which embraces the exceptional location and the stunning ocean views. Steps lead down to the next level which houses the master-suite (Bedroom 1). Outside the master-suite there's a covered private terrace and a flat lawn area which runs across the width of the property. Inside the room you'll find a king size bed, flat-screen TV and audio system, walk-in dressing area, and luxury en-suite bathroom with twin-sinks, walk-in shower and stunning outdoor bathtub overlooking the sea.
