Overview
An open living pavilion with extensive 8m by 3m verandah with spectacular 180 degree views of the ocean, islands and mainland across the Gulf of Thailand. A soaring Thai ceiling allows the hot air to rise and the temperature inside is remarkably cool even in the hottest season. Brass antique style fans add to the cool air flow and traditional lighting fixtures complete the authentic feel of old Thailand.
The kitchen includes all modern amenities, gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, blender etc. granite worktops, free standing butchers block and a separate walk-in pantry.
The rest of the living pavilion is open plan with wooden shutters opening out on to the beautiful landscaped tropical garden and huge granite boulders which give a Gaugin-esque feel to the landscape. Inside and outside dining and seating areas are furnished with Jim Thompson fabrics, and there is a desk and work area. Flat screen TV and DVD/ video player, modest CD player and Wi Fi are available. A full tiled bathroom with wood countertop is off the main living area.
Connected to the master bedroom by large double deck with additional seating, surrounded by tropical flowers and a small water feature.
A master bedroom with luxurious king size Sealy bed, ensuite dressing room and tiled bathroom. Extensive sea views are also available from this bedroom. Generous storage space in charming hand painted Tibetan cupboards and antique Chinese screened closets. A screened in porch allows the bedroom to be open to the sea breezes and also provides a relaxing seating area and a desk and bookshelf.
A modern bedroom with a queen size double bed under the main living area with en suite bathroom, for those who prefer a contemporary style. While modern, this bedroom still contains beautiful Asian features, such as the red lacquer Cambodian closet doors and antique Chinese bed head. A large en suite bathroom incorporates some of the natural rock into it's features, and includes a tiled shower and hand carved wooden panels. One wall of this bedroom opens out onto a covered porch and again guests can enjoy the wonderful sea view and details of the lush garden from seating here.
A totally separate guest villa is reached either through the garden or from the main house or directly from the upper parking lot. This villa allows guests to have more privacy from the main house and enjoys an elevated large deck with again fantastic ocean views from both the bedroom and the deck. The room contains a kingsize Sealy bed, spacious closets, Tibetan painted cupboard and a desk. Inside and outside seating and a sun lounger. At the rear is a beautiful open air bathroom, nestled between massive boulders and yet completely private.
This house offers a unique opportunity to experience the beautiful aesthetics of a traditional Thai teak house with all modern comforts, an ocean view which is probably one of the best in Koh Samui and available to all the bedrooms, and a setting in a large, landscaped tropical garden which blends in with the natural vegetation and rock formations. Bird watching in the garden offers constant interest and sometimes you can spot the amazing gliding lizards.
Also included: Air conditioners in all bedrooms as well as fans. Mosquito nets on the two kingsize beds. Shampoo/conditioner, and hand soap supplied. Tea/coffee in all bedrooms. Beach mats, beach towels and sarongs in each bedroom for beach and outside use. Floor mattresses and linens for up to 2 children can be provided with prior arrangement. No extra charges for two children. For more than two, a reasonable extra fee will be charged. Laundry can be done locally.
In the garden is a rustic table and benches and 2 sun loungers and umbrella's. There is an outside barbeque (you supply the charcoal). You are welcome to take and eat any fruit from the garden if in season mango's, bananas, pineapple and use lemon grass and ginger fresh from the garden for your Thai supper.
Access to a beautiful infinity edge pool with sea views, a club house and a yoga sala and mountain top scenic walks at the top of the hill 2 minutes drive or 5 minute walk.
Not suitable for elderly or infirm as there are different floor levels and steps. No children under 6 yrs, except for babies who are not mobile. No pets.
Smokers are asked to not smoke inside any of the buildings or on the decks but well away from the buildings. This is due to the fire risk, the potential damage to antique woodwork and the smell of smoke which is retained by wooden buildings.
