We decided 25 years ago that for the tropical climate of Samui that the Mediterranean/Acapulco style in stone, brick, cement and hard wood trimming, would have been easier to keep clean, free of molds, unwanted bugs and mosquitos that in the traditional Thai style housing and furnishings are impossible to obtain. Futhermore we had in mind since the beginning to go for families and groups of guests, so that nobody had to worry about cute, but fragile things around easy to brake. Our original eggshell finish of the inside as well as the outside of the place, create the 'vortex' effect and it stays cool all day long. Why did you opt for the hillside of Baan Taling Ngam instead of right at the beach? After 3 years of touring Samui we came to the conclusion that when Samui would have become famous (too beautiful, it was only matter of times ), this naturally perfect south west spot, full of vegetation and wildlife area, would have been of no interest to mass touristic crowds. To nature and peace loving guests, having 8 bays to choose from only 5 minutes away, was a valid reason. The constant trade winds keep the place cool all day and night long and pratically mosquitos free. To be by the beach was a price too high to pay with bar and disco music all night long and the intense heat of the night as the sea gave back the energy absorbed during the day. Being prisoners of air conditioning was not a good idea of vacations, besides beaches are public with no way to keep vendors, 'massage people' and stray dogs away. Are families with children, older people and pets allowed? We welcome them with open arms as we have special areas specifically created keeping in minds their safety and conforts.
