Sukhumvit
Sukhumvit Road is a major highway in Thailand, National Highway 3 to be precise, following a coastal route from Bangkok to Trat just over 400km in length. Sukhumvit through Bangkok is considered the city's centre and offers a number of luxury villas.
Sukhumvit apartments and villas are well connected. You can access the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok via the Skytrain Sukhumvit Line, which runs from Mo Chit through the Silom Line interchange at Siam Square up to On Nut on Soi 81. The Bangkok Metro's Sukhumvit Station interchanges with the Skytrain at Asok.
A residential area for western expatriates is found between Sukhumvit Soi 1 and Sukhumvit Soi 63. The Asok intersection upwards is preferred by Japanese nationals. Rentals are higher in the even numbered streets between Soi 8 and Soi 28 and in the odd numbered streets between Soi 15 and Soi 39. Indian expats occupy Soi 12.
The areas of Soi Cowboy and Nana Entertainment Plaza are packed full of go-go bars. Restaurants of various levels of luxury exist all along the road, as well as hotels including famous names such as The Westin, JW Marriott and Sheraton. Also several shopping malls are found, such as flashy The Emporium shopping center. It also features the eastern bus station at Soi 63 Ekkamai.
Sukhumvit is one of the longest roads in the world and at its most dense, could be considered the centre of Bangkok, south of the residential areas, packed with shopping centers and hotels, including the gigantic Siam Paragon and the netherworld off Siam Square opposite. Go go centres Nana and Soi Cowboy are also just off Sukhumvit. Sukhumvit offers some of the most diverse dining in Bangkok, from 5 star dining to street carts, a great variety.
Siam Square is trying to be the Times Square of Bangkok. With many small sois full of tiny shops and restaurants, aimed at upper class Thais, shopping-spree Malaysians, and working ex-pats including Hard Rock cafe. The four movie theaters in the area are a good rest from the shopping. Prices are low and are almost worth putting up with the standing ovation enforced at the start.

Erawan Shrine is a small, packed shrine dedicated to Brahma and named after his elephant. During the day you can see traditional Thai dancing.
Central World Plaza reopened in 2006 after expansion and renovation, and is now the only mall in Bangkok that can give the Paragon a challenge in terms of size. There's an ice skating rink and a multiplex on the top floor.
Pantip Plaza is a six-floor shopping mall devoted to computer stuff, and famous for its pirated media you won't find the vendours, they'll find you.
Siam Paragon is the massive shopping mall right at the heart of Bangkok, anchored by the Paragon department store and also featuring the Siam Ocean World aquarium, the largest in South-East Asia. The fourth floor has modern Thai arts and crafts, and a large bookstore.
Sukhumvit Apartments and Luxury Condominiums
Sukumvit apartments benefit from the highest concentration of Bangkok's amenities in a single area. The accommodation in Sukhumvit varies in price and style and so offers a great deal of choice.
