Fringed by a soft sandy beachfront it’s undeniably stamped by mother’s and my partiality to the blending of wood, the simplicity of naked cement and glass. Dotted with antiques, which radiate their Dutch heritage, it embraces the flavor of the locale. Heavenly beach life sneakily meets earthy luxury.
Minimalist and modern, adorned with paintings from young Sri Lankan artists, the openness lets in our beautiful coconut tree-sprinkled garden and an endless expanse of sea. Sheer glass windows when opened welcome balmy breezes and panoramic views of golden sunsets and ice blue horizons to four-poster beds under an intricate wooden ceiling; in four bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Indika, our cook, there from day one, creates delicious meals. Tag along with him to the local market and pick vegetables of your choice, seafood from the fish market or straight from the nets of the fisherman on the beach. Or just laze, order from the menu or attempt to challenge Indika with a craving. Be spoilt by our butlers and housekeepers so eager to please. Carve your memory in the guest book; we’ll add it to ours. The credit for the pavilions goes to my brothers. They felt it would be cool to have 'chill spots'. One facing the sea, perfect to wine and dine at night. The other, for idyllic sun soaked mornings in-between an azure pool and a turquoise ocean. Memories of us three teenagers and Mum swimming out to catch waves to body board are testimony to its surfing repute.
